Week 12: Work-In-Progress

This past week for Senior Portfolio, I did some additional work on poses and clean up. I spent a little too much time on trying to fit and figure our some poses leading up to the attacks.

Each pose I experimented on didn't fit the flow or feel of the animation. At a certain point, I figured that I was spending too much time trying to add unnecessary filler animation to this project. In the end, I decided to scrap the first half all together.

A good portion of my time afterwards was focusing on timing and increasing the spacing between poses. After the critique I received last week, I removed some in-between transitional poses that slowed down the flow of the animation. This definitely improved the pacing of the poses a lot, especially in preserving the fluid actions of the jumps between both main poses.

When adjusting the curves of the jumps and landing poses, the controllers that were used the most were the hand, feet, COG, elbow and knee controllers. In making these changes, several in-between keys were affected making the geo break. This was the most noticeable between the base of the tail, elbows, and the back of the knees.

As the semester is coming to a close soon, I think I'll continue to work in polishing these poses and adding a proper anticipation pose (think Dragon Ball) as the first pose of this animation.
