Week 8: New Rig Testing and Poses
For Senior Portfolio, I worked on making adjustments to poses on the Jacko rig and testing out poses and controls on the Girl rig.
Previously, I had a Beg pose for Jacko that needed refinement in the posing of the front paws. After testing the IK/FK blend setting and controls, the FK controls distorted the shape and pose I had envisioned. Rather than completely removing the pose, I modified the pose to a simple Sit with a Shake pose. This brief pose will be needing some holds to provide an interactive pose between both rigs.
Additionally, I spent some time reworking the poses in the time editor with some longer holds between to slow down the pacing. I'll also be breaking the timing apart some more to provide a back and forth animated interaction between the two rigs.
After figuring out the controls for this new rig, I drove right into poses. I approached the blocking with no specific aim in mind but managed to flesh out some poses I liked. My approach in blocking out these poses made it difficult to create holds for poses later added between already keyed in poses.
I also noticed a lot sliding and continuous movements where there shouldn't be as a result. As these poses and reference are still works in progress, I'll continue fleshing out some additional poses and fixing the timing.
I do feel that I am getting uninspired with this animation. While working on this half the week, I'll be testing out some other rigs for another animation that will be solely focused on body mechanics again.
