Week 4: Updates and Blocking

This past week for Advance Production, we adjusted our storyboard using critique, created a base Maya scene for the first half of the animation, and started blocking out some shots.

After revising the timing and shots, I collaborated with Farris to make adjustments and shared the sketches for the new shots. These new updates will be reflected in this week's SyncSketch.

To help out my animators, I made a copy the scene in Maya from our storyboard using the assets in Unreal. I had set up the rig and props to scale, as well as created the rest of the rooftop to fill in the rest of the scene. This maya scene will be used for Shots 1 through 8.

One issue that will be needing some troubleshooting is importing this scene back into Unreal as some of the props have been modified. This is something we will working on this upcoming week.

I worked on a few shots myself and went ahead to block out the poses and camera movement for Shots 12A and 12B. Looking at the animation now, I will be adding a few more movements to fit the 2 seconds for both shots.

Our animators got started animating their shots using the base Maya scene. Their blocking and timing have been just like the visuals on storyboard. Timing and fine-tuning of these shots will be done over the course of the next two weeks. After some critique, I anticipate that our animators will be going ahead to block their other assigned shots which will be added to our next weekly.
