Week 2: Walk Cycle WIP

After running into some hiccups the week before with the Jacko Rig, I had to start from scratch for a new walk cycle. Using the reference below, I got to work. I identified the basic poses and animated the poses on threes. Using this reference was a bit challenging. After scrubbing through the scene, I was able to notice some issues primarily with the front legs.

Small Dog Reference

On the first and last poses on the animation have this jitter happening on the front right paw.  I'll be working on fixing this pose this week. The blocking cycle still has a long way to go, I feel that I could benefit a lot from another pass in blocking. This would include more defined shoulder and hip rotations, as well as rotations on the torso from left to right.

While working on the vanilla walk cycle, I also started working on animating a pouncing jog, which I've seen my dog do a lot. Unfortunately, the video above is the only similar reference I could find for this movement. Along with this video, I plan to record my own reference of my dog doing a similar movement.

This upcoming week, I'll be re-blocking the vanilla walk cycle and recording a side and front reference of the pouncing jog.
