Week #5: Re-Block

This past week I worked on testing out props and scene environments to fill the view of the animation. I was able to find and import some props and objects that had textures and worked well in Maya. I worked on some additional facial animation on 'Dipper' to get more of his animation done. I was able to get some reactions done to my satisfaction but often got stumped on how much to push the facial expressions for certain parts of the audio. I want to aim to get some more stretch on his shocked and suspicious faces during this week.

I also started the 'Bill' animation from scratch again, as I wasn't really satisfied in the direction I was headed with the previous animation. I have some vague poses blocked out, some with a more childish personality to them rather than condescending. I want to test how much I can push the rig to to a spontaneous jump behind 'Dipper' at the start of the scene to really nail in that surprise factor. I have been testing out similar poses but have struggled getting it right with the rig limitations. I have thought that maybe using a more snappy kind of approach would deliver a similar punch to the first idea. But I'll continue pushing the rig to see what I can block out.

Ideally, I wanted to have this animation completed by now. But there has been a lot of trial and error outsourcing the rigs and scene that caused this delay. Best case scenario, I'm able to complete a more polished 10 second version of this so I can more on to a smaller animation, perhaps an action sequence, as a break between animations. I'd like to come back to this once I have more fresh ideas on the approach for 'Bill's' movements.
