Advance Production: Week 2-3

For Weeks 2 and 3 in CAGD 495: Advance Production, our team and I worked on revisiting and brainstorming a new storyboard and researched assets we'll be using for the animation. We decided to continue with the original Christmas and postal delivery as the service we are promoting. Rather that staying with the penguins, we ran with Santa and a UPS deliveryman.

The storyline would go as follows; the deliveryman approaches a suburban home to deliver a package under the tree. As he approaches the home and enters, he hears a sound coming from the fireplace. Santa falls through from the chimney and they face off.

They race to deliver their individual packages while throwing smaller objects at one another to slow each other down. Right as the deliveryman knocks Santa out, Santa gets up and pulls the rug under the deliveryman. The deliveryman slips backwards.

As he is in the air, he throws the package, as one would shoot a basketball, under the Christmas tree. In slow-motion, Santa shakes his head and the deliveryman celebrates as the package successfully lands under the tree.

This new storyboard was hand-drawn by me and will be redrawn digitally as we continue developing the story. Afterwards, I organized some spreadsheets in our team Google Drive to organize the necessary props, decor, assets, and character rigs we'll be using in the scene. I also created a separate spreadsheet for post-production with some basic sound effects and music. Recently, our team looked for assets and we started looking into Unreal for the living room/ house interior environment we'll be using for this animation.
